Lexie Girl - Journal 7

So we live in a lovely neighborhood in Springfield. We live in an area called Southern Hills. The houses are so beautiful and it is so peaceful. And we have wonderful neighbors as well. Our next door neighbor on the left has 2 daughters, one is 11 and one is 14. The girls are perfect age to start babysitting our little guys for an occasional date night. We have a very neighborly relationship with him. He is recently divorced after 30 years of marriage. I bought the boys a huge blow up thing for the yard and was blowing it up and he brought over an automatic air pump for us to use so I didn’t have to exhaust anymore energy into it. He and his daughter put out a slip and slide for his youngest and they invited the boys to come over and play too. His youngest daughter, Taylor does dance and his oldest, Alexis is really wonderful at tennis. They travel often for their stuff. They also have a dog. Her name is “Lexie”, and no, that is not after his daughter Alexis, that was her name when they got her from the humane society. When they travel, occasionally we dog sit. And last week he informed us, that he will be moving to Columbia for his job. I was sad. He is wonderful, friendly, and I don’t like moving by new people, because it takes time for trust to develop and relationships to build. Last week he was out of town and he boarded Lexie, and asked me to pick her up on Saturday morning so he didn’t have to pay a weekend boarding cost since he would be home that evening. So we did, and she dug a hole in the fence behind us and my husband had to go over there and get her.  Well we are dog sitting again this week and on Monday she dug a hole and got out of our yard. I looked all through our neighborhood and it took me over 3 hours to find her. On my way to school today my husband called me and told me that she was out again. This has begun to get frustrating, and my husband said, in the future until Matt actually does leave, we have to tell him we can’t keep her. I just want to help a neighbor out, but my husband’s the boss.
